Welcome to Dining with Dignity, where you can learn about texture modified diets and food fortification. I will challenge you to think outside the box for creating meals and force you to look at nutrition in a whole new way.

From over 20 years’ experience in the catering industry, and now over 6 years in the aged care sector, I can provide you with practical, simple, yet very effective methods of preparing meals for those you care for with a swallowing difficulty called Dysphagia. Going to the bathroom, getting dressed, washing, eating & drinking are all part of daily life. What happens if these tasks are no longer in your control?  Difficulties chewing and swallowing food may have a detrimental effect on their overall health. This is where guidance from medical professionals such as Dietitians and Speech & Language Therapists needs to be embraced along with a person willing to cook the foods adapted to suit the swallowing difficulty.

The approach is simple and gives the dining experience an incredibly positive feel with adapting foods and methods to suit your new dietary needs. I believe that all food can be adapted in some way to enable people to eat the foods that they once loved and maintain a healthy weight.
